HSL is to run a 2 day course on RPE Fit Testing – Advanced 2 day course in quantitative (Portacount) and qualitative fit testing.
4 – 5 November 2015
Concern over the quality of RPE fit testing in the UK has led to
the development of a competency scheme, known as ‘Fit2Fit’. This
advanced course is suitable for those who are well on the way to
becoming competent fit testers and are possibly considering
applying for accreditation under the Fit2Fit scheme. This course
will provide training covering the syllabus of the Fit2Fit scheme
and is suitable for those wishing to refine their skills in
preparation for Fit2Fit accreditation. Note that this is a training
course only; attendance will not lead to fit2fit accreditation
(More information on how to go on to achieve Fit2Fit accreditation
is available at http://fit2fit.org/index.html.).
This course is also suitable for those fit testers who just wish to
hone their skills and learn more on the general aspects of RPE.
This is a 2-day advanced course covering both quantitative
(Portacount) and qualitative fit testing methods. All course
presenters are Fit2Fit accredited fit testers and some were
actively involved in the development of the Fit2Fit scheme and are
members of the Fit2Fit technical committee.
It is essential that delegates have experience of fit
testing using the quantitative (Portacount) fit
testing method. Fit testing experience should cover the
relevant range of tight fitting facepieces – perhaps having been
actively fit testing for at least 6 months. Additionally, delegates
should have a basic working knowledge and understanding of RPE and
be conversant with HSE guidance documents HSG53 and HSE 282/28.
Those who have previously attended the RPE fit test – Introduction
course and the RPE Essentials course should have the
required level of knowledge, but additional practical experience of
quantitative fit testing is essential. If you do not
have the advised level of experience then the RPE fit test – Introduction
course would be more appropriate for you.
Note that although Qualitative fit testing at advanced level
will be covered in this course, it is not essential for you to have
prior experience of the qualitative fit test method in order to
Delegates will need to bring along their own fit test equipment
for use during the practical sessions.
